- Line up starts at 5:30am, doors open at 6am on Sunday mornings- be ready to grease the doorman. Have your "line-by pass card" handy- it will save you some time in the line up too. I never grease doormen, and usually get in (with Line by pass) by 6:15 to 6:30am.
Inside, you will find a low ceiling basement, lit only by black lighting. This is no fashion show. This is NOT for the faint of heart. Music is loud, and sounds great. The crowds are awesome. Have spoken extensively with most bouncers who can attest to this- Most calls for bouncers are for sick patrons.
DJ Addy starts it up and does he ever- His intense mix of house rythms with middle eastern flavours truly make him stand out. Deko-ze is a regular DJ, another legendary talent specializing in Tribal house. The DJ list is varied, and always great.
With VIP access, you are allowed into a small corner area, and also behind the DJ tables. To watch a DJ energize a crowd from this angle is very exciting. This brings me back to the old days of house parties, when you could surround a DJ and watch him/her GO.
There is a small area in-between the 2 bars that is mostly filled with gay men. They are friendly, and I haven't had any problems with any aggressive guys. A spice added to the mix, as I see it.
The larger dance floor area is usually well stocked with fun loving and sociable females and straight males. The club does get warm and humid-especially on special events (Halloween, New Years day). Hope you aren't bothered by sweaty bodies in tight spaces; if so, a small corridor leads to a stairwell and up to an outside covered smoking area. This is the well known outdoor chill out area @ Zone. A staircase leads from the outdoor smoking area to another establishment called "The Silver Dollar". Comfort Zone is not a licensed establishment. The Silver Dollar opens at 11 am Sunday morning and serves liquor all day.
Back inside, to the rear of the club, is a large area with chairs and couches to relax (Indoor chill out area).
Yes, there are sketchy types at Zone. You will either love it or hate it-there is no middle ground. There is also nothing in Toronto like it.
