- I've been to El Convento Rico's several times with a group of friends in the last year primarily for the free Latin dance classes they offer on Friday (and Sunday) nights at around 9:45pm. The classes run until around 11:15pm when the club starts to get full. The guy who trains is a Cuban guy (dunno his name)... same guy who teaches at Baba Luu's on Wed and Thu nights. On Friday nights it's mostly couples who go there (because of the dance classes), so the feeling is still that of a regular club. There are a few gay people there, which I don't mind (I'm straight by the way), since none of them tried to pick me up or anything. Drag queen show runs from 1:00am to 1:30am. Saturday nights are the nights to avoid if you are homo-phoebic since that's when the place is packed of gay people. Overall, it's really worth going there on Friday nights... they play a good mix of Latin and Dance music (about half hour each, then switch over).

- It's on college (i think it's past the Sicilian cafe). First this I should say about this club is that it's a mostly gay bar. Now don't let that frighten you...cause if you are secure with yourself then you can still have a good time. You walk through the door and to your immediate left is the cashier..then you proceed to go downtairs...to your right you will find a sitting area with small tables and chairs, there are bars on both sides of room, it's not to big of a place .Drinks are around $4-5. The music is mostly latin music with some old school and a little bit of top 40. Like I said earlier it is a mostly gay (guy) bar... so alot of guy couples dancing..and man can they dance! Then around 12 or 1am there is a show..what kind of a show?...what else but a drag queen show!!! It's quite fun actually they clean the dance floor up and most people sit down on the floor to watch it, then the drag queen comes out in full gear and lip sings to classics like "I will survive", some old madonna, whitney houston songs etc.. after the show is done (about an hour) the music starts again and everyone is dancing. that's it...so if you're not afraid to venture out and do something different...then check it out. Don't worry guys about getting "picked up" cause they can you usually tell if you are straight or gay..and it seems that it's a "regular" crowd that goes there anywhere.
