- So we got there a few minutes before midnight and were on guestlist. The club is located about a 20 second walk from Dundas & Beverley (south west side of Dundas) and is kind of hidden (look at for the Moose statute). Obviously anybody who goes to Film Lounge will know that at this time there would be no line-up so we walked right in. Me and another guy in our group got free cover, ladies were free, and the rest had to pay a $5 cover. Otherwise for those not on guestlist the cover charge is as follows: $10 b4 midnight, $15 between midnight & 2 AM, $20 after 2, and ladies are free before midnight. We get in to realize that there aren't that many people inside so we just had a few drinks and sat in the lounging area. Devon Hall was spinning house & exclusively house throughout the night but the music wasn't at full volume this early so it gave us an oppurtunity to socialize. Now one thing I must point out is that this place is pretty lit up compared to most nightclubs, especially the lounging area. The atmosphere is a bit cult-like as everybody is into the music.
At around 1-1:30 the club got busy, not packed as there was a lot of room to dance but a decent number of people to make a pretty good house party. The crowd was mostly in their mid 20s, I would say and although most people were dressed decently I don't think there was a dress code as a small minority did come in with running shoes & some athletic wear. The girl to guy ratio wasn't the best but the quality and friendliness of the women made up for that. One chick came right up to me and introduced herself and another was even more friendly if you know what I mean ;) . All in all, the crowd was pretty down to earth and was there mostly for the music. In addition to that I also noticed it's a lot more of a local/416 crowd than the entertainment district clubs are as everybody I met was from the downtown area.
Drinks prices were average for a Toronto club: $5 for a Molson, $6.50 for a Smirnoff, $6 for shots. The bartending service was efficient although the bar wasn't too busy since a whole bunch of patrons arrived after 2 -> too bad for last call :( .
At around 3 something, Manzone & Strong supposedly came on and started killing it with some additional house beats. I really enjoyed the music that night as they pretty much played every type of house that there is. Everything from Progressive to Deep House or from Tribal to Hard House was on the menu for the evening. Unfortunately we had to leave at around 4 but the party kept on going strong until 6.
Overrall Rating: 8/10. I would definetely come back as I enjoyed the atmosphere, the vibe, and the music. Too bad there aren't many places like this in Toronto.
