  • I've heard about Fluid for a long while and, having been clubbing for 5 or so years, would pass it by and never quite consider it. I finally decided to check it out this past Friday, and was I amazed. First off, the staff are friendly. Perhaps being mature and all would help, gets you some respect. Upon entering, I entered towards the quieter lounging section. Wasn't bad, pretty quiet. But it was early. Before you know it, the main dance floor, the next section over, was packed

Lots of fine ladies were there, and for the ladies there were some guys representing. There were a few older people that didn't quite look like they belonged there, but other than that, overall the mature, well-dressed crowd gives the club a real great look, apart from the riff-raff that seeps and appears like fungi in other clubs. The decor is amazing, with what looks like hand-crafted glass that hangs down from the ceiling, representing dripping liquid, or "fluid". The lighting is amazing, with some images of hot women and guys lighting up on pillars. Bartenders were sexy, quick with the drinks (which were average in price, so no complaints).

My friend and I were highly pleased, having mingled and making contact with some ladies who we might end up bumping into again at the same place!

Overall, I give a 9/10. Unfortunately, air conditioning was not happening all that much that night (very hot, hazy, humid summer night). A big fan was blowing, and that was about it. Dancing was by far a sweaty occasion, but nothing is wrong with sweaty bodies now, right...?

  • Went to Fluid last night because one of my buddy's is pussy whipped & that's where his gf was going.. :lol

No seriously it was a great time last night! Fluid saturday is hosted by RyanB & Bounce.. Club started off pretty dead.. we got there around 10:45 and there were maybe 20 people in there... within 30 minutes it was nicely filled...

The club has a $20 cover, but some dude right outside the club had some "discount" prices... So with some of our free passes & the discounted one, most of us paid at max $5 to get in.

Drinks were a little expensive. Rie & Ginger was 5.50, double was $8 i think... I bought a Double Rie & Ginger & a can of redbull (the non drinker wanted a buzz i guess :lol ) cost me i think 16$!

Eitherway it was a decent crowd... Mixed in every aspect with lots of tourists! 1 room was all house, the other was all hip hop... at one point the house room started playing hip hop as well so i was extra happy to have hip hop all over!

I'd go back definately.. had a great time.. My only beef is with the bank machine... the bank machine is located like in this dark spot you can't see shit! this post actually reminds me to check my bank account to make sure i didn't take anything out

  • Arrive around 11:30pm. There was no line at this time. Downtown was quiet, only a few clubs with lines, as the weather was crap. The 3rd room was closed, the lounge was picking up, and the main was quiet.

The lounge room was a sauna. Urban music was on the menu for the night in this room. I have no clue who the DJ was as I spent very, very little time in this room. The main room was my party room for the night. Tommy Pap was spinning. Mostly house with 2 small urban sets. Great Job!! A huge improvement over the last DJ(s) who were there. No MCing was a huge bonus. This room never got over half full. Was mostly quiet the whole night. Drinks in this room were great. Our bartender made the best rum & cokes I have had in the downtown core.

The clients at Fluid on this night were not youngens like in past partys. Average age would be around 25 - 27. There was some Halloween contest planned, but I don't think it went ahead. Never heard about it the entire night. There were a few costumes floating about. (30-40)

Very enjoyable evening. Now if only some more house heads would return to Fluid.

    8/10

  • We went to Fluid Lounge on a wednesday....

We waited for about a minute in the short line up when we got pulled out of the lineup by the bouncer and let in. We had to pay 10 bucks to get in, both me and my female friends...we went thru the dance room, where they where playing latin music at first they played latin music and then started the house music.. We got something to drink (2 bacardi Silver's and Corona came up to under 20 bucks)

We then went to the RnB room, which was definetly poppin'...good mix of guys and girls and they where all dressed to kill.. the music wa good, and as stated by the reviews before me, the RnB room was really hot, and the DAnce room was more air conditioned.... Oh one thing that was funny was that there was this old guy like 50 or 60 dressed in his dashiki dancing on the dancefloor, that was jokes....PLAYA DO YO THING!!.... So we went back and forth from RnB to dance cause we needed to cool down, and wen my female friends got bothered by this other old guy that wanted to dance with one of the girls, so I started to dance with him..LOL... It was a lot of fun, the athmosphere was chill and the ppl looked good...and a good mix of guys and girls...

Cons: there might be one thing I noticed, the long sofa that wrapped around the Dance room was really odd to sit on....we where tired so we decided to sit down, but we kept sliding down..LOL....other than...it was good

  • Arrived at Fluid at 11:45pm and waited a minute or two in the short line. The doormen do an excellent job of getting the partiers into the club. Cover would be $10 for guys, ladies I'm not sure about.

The 3rd room is where you enter and Tommy Pap is playing some house. People lounging, talking and drinking in this room.

The 2nd room was also open at this point and was packed. The DJ was spinning urban tunes. People dancing, drinking etc.

In this room we ordered 2 beverages (one beer, and rum & coke) and it came to $12. When the waitress brought it over she spilled my r&c and half ended up on me. So she looked pissed & disgusted, then brought me another.

The main room at this point was closed. In 20 minutes it opened, yet the DJ was not in there. The DJ came on and was playing dance and house, yet he was not very good. Maybe it was an off night, but not as good as a few weeks ago. Went to the bar and got 2 more drinks and they came in at $11. Now my question is, is the extra $1 a 50 cent per drink delivery charge, or an upgrade for the drink she spilled on me???

The main room picked up a bit, maybe half full, but never more. House, dance, some killer old school followed by urban. Back to house etc. The floor was always grooving and the DJ dropped a euro tune in there. Did I mention the amazing classic house set he played!?!

The crowd is older than the previous clientel that was in there, but still not a drinking crowd. A 'to be seen' crowd. Crowd was friendly and into the party.

Even with the drink mishap, and the iffy DJing, I'll be back.

(Bring back DJ Con and the DJ problem is solved)

  • arright- so im looking to hit a upscale, above 21 crowd club, right? see the $20 entrance (that usually keeps out the younger crowd) we get to the door around 11 pm- well, arent we doubly surprised when :

    1- it was only 10 bucks person, 2- it was D E A D

we bought some drinks and made small talk with a lovely smiling female behind the bar. we were even asked for our email addresses- im thinking..cool! but where are the people??

he house/dance music was mediocre-at best. RnB room was JAMMED as it was playing 'ok' songs. it was VERY hot in the RnB room..while the dance room was cold and empty! weird..

needless to say, we laughed at what we thought was "right said Fred" that pulled up in a Ferrarri..lol

we stayed at Fluid, till it was filled up iat around 2 am..we split and went to Film

  • well i guess i will start this from the beginning, tryign to get on guest list clicked on jay ts profile and his name says vip for fri and sat nights, well thats not happening its only fris sadly got the surprise at the door when they said your not on the list. anyways after we get in, this was the first time i set my foot in this place in over a year so it was nice getting to see what had been done to this place. Decent job, they added a nice vip lounge, post some nice wall paintings and pics of girls like models around the club nice work on the ceiling and nice looking dj booths. overall nice look to the club

spent most the night in the rnb room with odd walks into the house room to get some are, better ventelation in that room, and the fact that it was prob half as many people in.

The crowd is stylish, mix of hot girls and uglems, with the normal toronto i am god attitude in the girls, some were cool though which is always a pleasent surprise

  • The actual reno was well done.....nice deco.....the music was ok if you're into the whole urban vibe....with a very small (TOO SMALL) set of euro towards last call. Drinks are kinda highly priced....and cover is 20 for guys and 10 for girls....2.50 for coatcheck and if you're a f/t student like me, it adds up fast...but overall worth it 7.5/10.....if you pre-drink....9/10. Mostly a european crowd with a wee bit of 'tude!

  • I went this Friday night. Pleasure meeting you Manzone.

The place looks very good. Nice renos. The sound in the main room was very good. Very loud! Too bad it was mostly urban. The DJs, Con and Fazio, did a great job with the urban, in the packed main room. Mixing was great and the crowd were really into it.

The house room was not too busy this week, but the music by Manzone and Strong was excellent. Too bad the rear area speakers were up to tricks.

  • Sunday Night comes around. My Buddies and I decide to hit the downtown scene for Money. Got there around 11:15 and there was a huge lineup, there was no chance of getting in unless you greased or knew someone there. The Lineup was full of sausages which means they must of let all the girls in. After walking around the corner, and seeing what was open, there wasnt alot of choice, plus it was freezing outside. So we decide to go to Fluid. No really lineup in the front about five mintues to get in and cozy. As i was walking down the steps, i heard the hollow effect noise which translate to their is no one in the club.

Cover Charge was $ 10 which is okay They had only one room open as we got in (east room) and there were some people maybe 1/2 full so far. Headed to the bar and grabbed some round which were priced typically for a downtown bar. Saw some maple leaf players like Matt Stajan and the other guy Nathan Perroirt or something like that but I didnt go up and bother them, hey i figure they want to be left alone. They opened up the other room around 12 and the place started to fill up to a point that there were people but you can still freely walk around or dance without having someone sweating on you. The dj (i dont know his name) was spinning house music and had some good sets, i was quite pleased with the music actually. The ratio of guys to girls was typical, nothing to write home about, where there was more guys to girls. Everyone was dressed good in a relaxed dress code, pretty decent looking crowd with some hot older woman running around. Attidude was pretty upbeat, everyone seems friendly. Id say it was a more chill out atmosphere meaning i guess everyone was socializing and dancing around but no crazy antics. Bartending service was great, even managed to get some free drinks which is always a bonus. Overall i had low expectations we i got in but the night got better as more people came in, and more drinks went down my throat. A good surprise

Overall 7/10, I had a good time, i might go back once in a while but i wouldnt go back every week

  • Wow, what can I say... haven't been to fluid Friday's in a long time and lots has changed.. Went from a chilled not so packed party a year ago to a slammin, can't move around, girls EVERYWHERE (and i mean EVERYWHERE!!!) party....

Loaded up the 4x4 with Myself, Taleenie, Ligaya1, and 2 other friend's Headed downtown a little late, but still on time for our guestlist (Thanks Manzone!). One room Manzone & Strong bustin it up with the newest and best tracks (never anything different) and in the other room DJ Constantine bustin out the best hip hop & Latin (and some dance!) you can hear. Highlight for me was hearing our old cancun song Celia Cruz - La Vida es un carnaval

Shoutouts go to DJ Manzone, Jacko, Julian and a special shoutout to the birthday Girl 69Tequila! Happy birthday Meg, and great seeing you last night

All in all, i'd say last night was a 9/10 - only downfall was leaving a little earlier but that was ok.. Definately would go back again! and very soon!

  • Grand opening of Glory Days Fridays.

We got there around 10:30-ish. There were already two fairly long lines for both the regular and VIP line. Thank you to Con and Will for hooking me and my friends up with VIP. :)

When we got inside the place was about 1/4 full ... but of course the line for coat check was huge. I hate the coat check at fluid; it's always a mess. I haven't been back to Fluid since they "renovated". The main room looks pretty much the same, the back room was redone very nicely I like the feel and look back there. Good chill out place.

Anyway, we then went off to get some drinks ... prices are fairly average for a place like Fluid (approx. shots $6, mix drinks $7.25).

When then headed over to the Steam Room. Manzone and Strong were spinning some really nice House. Good place to have some drinks and mingle while the place is filling up.

By about midnight both rooms were super busy. Just about to capacity with not much room to move around. Surprisingly the crowd was very mature, well dressed and fairly low attitude. People actually apologized to me when I got bumped into - wow. The crowd in the Steam room is more mature and the main room was a bit younger. The guy to girl ratio could have been better but I think that's now the norm at most TO clubs. Overall a nice and good looking crowd.

Eventually we made our way back to the Main Room where Con was dropping some amazing tunes. Lots and I mean lots of new and classic Euro (probably 90%). The "Glory Days" theme kicked off at 12:20am, I don't think anybody expected Con to play all the amazing classic euro songs from 94, 95, 96, but he did. Simply amazing is the way to describe it ... brought back a lot of memories of when I was in high school. First Base, Loft, DJ Company, Darkness, Alexia, Joee, Real McCoy, Mondano, Fun Factory...etc...

The crowd was definitely into it, jumping around, hands in the air, fist pumping, and sooooo many people singing along with the songs. I thought it was great - Con respects to you. :) It was lots of fun. Eventually he started playing some Hip Hop and R&B so that gave us a chance to head back into the Steam room were Manzone and Strong were still laying down some sweet house, I can't say enough about the track selection and mixing ... very nice. Back in the main room Con had moved into more a Vocal trance mode and that had people moving and groovin'. I really like the mix of music styles between the two rooms ... my two favourite kinds of music in one place with some of the best DJs for the genre - what more could one ask for.

Throughout the night Jay T kept the crowd pumped on the mic. and he kept the Malibu rum shooters flowing. Truly one of Toronto's best MC voices and hosts. Good job!

  • Got in no problem thru the guest list line at 11am, $20 cover charge.

Main room, to the left was jammed packed. My friends and I, five in total, hung out in there for about 45mins. Very smoky down there, irritated eyes. The music, which was hard house, was unbearable. Same beat, no highs or no lows. I couldn't take it! (keep in mind, I'm a huge fan of house, trance, etc.) After each song I was hoping for a change of pace or mood, but to no avail, very dissapointed.

So my crew gave up on this D.J. and we tried out the other room, little bit smaller. But it was nearly impossible to walk thru. You can't have a good time at a club if its overly crowded and your pinned up against a wall the whole night. The music in this room was a bit of everything, hip hop, house. As usual, more guys than girls, but the girls were showing up later in the night. Very nice looking.

Overall, i expected much better music fr! om this place (that was the main reason for attending this club) and just too crowded. I give it a 6 out of 10. I wont be going back for a while.

  • Well with it being reading week and all, i decided to make my return to fluid on a sunday night.

This was my first time there since Mark Oliver has been added to their lineup.

Got there at about 11:30, no lineup so we got in right away. Thanks to Jacko/Brian N. for the hook up at the door! Once inside, the main room was still not opened as it had all the lights on. So we ventured to the other room where there was about 100 people lurking around. I must admit that fluid on a sunday has the best looking crowd that i've ever seen. Very stylish, mature, upscale and ready to PARTY! I think its the only tugboat (fatties) free heaven!!! its wonderfull..... By 1:00 the club was fairly busy, not rammed, but the right number to be able to move. MO was kickin some sick tribal tunes in the main room, while ramyVsdavid where playin some vocal house and hiphop. i did not mind the hiphop too much since the ladies seemed to be enjoying it! Finally got to meet the infamous jacko! nice meeting you bro, and thanks again! also got to meet the beautiful CPG, funny thing was that i was checkin her out and jacko's like DUDE thats CPG, im like WHAT? again it was a pleasure meeting you! and kinda met slinky too, but this guy was a mess, what did u DROP? all in all a great night! perfect blend of music and beautiful girls!

  • I just wanted to make a comment about the Fluid club. My sister and I went there in April or 2000, and we waited in line for about 10-15 minutes. When we finally got to the front, a tall white bouncer asked us for our ID. Now my sister is older than me by atleast 6 years, but she looks younger than me. So, he looks at my ID, and hands it back to me, then he takes her's and looks at it and says that it's not her. So she starts telling him that is her, and that she has two kids and that she is willing to show him her strechmarks. so, by this time, he has passed her passport around to the other bouncers to look at, and this is almost 25 minutes later! The people in line behind us finally started yelling at the bouncer to let us in and stop holding up the line. So he gave her the passport to her and finally let us in. So I think that the Fluid should start looking into getting better bouncers with more people skills.

The music was SICK!!! Tommy Pap playing bomb after bomb, even threw in a little hip hop/reggae set......as well as a safe classic house set.

Anywayz, i was impressed..............Jt on the mic rippin it up, i will definetly check this place out again.........maybe next week.

  • On Saturday November 10th, 2001, me and a couple of people I work with at my own company arrived at the Fluid Lounge and thought that we will have an entertaining night only to be greatly disappointed. The reason for that wasn't the club atmosphere nor the music, once inside we were impressed. The problem was the door bouncers who are ignorant and think that they own the club. I don't know if that's the case but I would like to know who hires these people and on what criteria. Night clubs are businesses just like other businesses where people have to be treated nice and equally.... The bouncers must've let at least 200 of their friends jump the line even in front of the VIP people. In the real world judging by the commercial standards this club would've been extinct...Imagine calling your credit card company only to stay on hold for hours because the operator is answering his/her friends' calls before you or chatting with the employee sitting next to them. I understand the bouncers to let some of their friends in but not a busload. They should all have a list of 10-15 people approved by the management, who will be coming, and the rest should be in the lineup. I don't see why their friends should get special attention. They are nothing but a bunch of teenagers who have nothing going for them more than the people in the lineup.

  • I just wanted to say that I'm really upset at the way that my boyfriend and I were treated when we went to fluid last night. We got there at around 11:00pm and there was no line up. I thought it was because it was raining but it wasn't. There were a few bouncers outside. One of them was Carl. I don't know his last name buy every long weekend, I go to fluid and have never had a problem getting in. Last night, Carl told us that he was not letting anyone in that didn't have a VIP card or was not on the guest list and that if we wanted to get in, we would have to wait until 1:00am. This was really upsetting because I had wanted to go to fluid last night because my birthday is on Tuesday and the only night that I really like at fluid is on a Thursday night. We told Carl that we came to fluid because of my birthday but he still turned us away. A few people that we new had gotten in and they were not on the guest list and did not have VIP cards. When we asked Carl why he was letting those people in and not us, he said it's up to him and he can let in anyone that he chooses. We were dressed up very nicely, even nicer than a lot of the people that he was letting in. I am very upset and my whole night was ruined. We had to leave, rather than waiting around until 1:00am to get into the club because this is the time that I would be leaving to go home because I had to work today. I cannot believe that we were treated like that. We even told Carl that we just wanted to have a couple of drinks and that we would be leaving at 1:00am. Every time we go to fluid we spend a lot of money and to be treated like that, it is totally unacceptable. I have never been so humiliated and embarrassed. To let two people into the club could not possibly be a hard thing to do. We talking about two people. Not ten or fifteen people. I don't understand why we were given such a hard time. I just! wanted to explain what happened last night, because I am not happy with the situation at all.

  • I went to Fluid last night(Saturday) for my buddy's 22nd b-day. LOL it seems like every other week I've been going Friday or Saturday for someone's b-day. I always bring them there because we always have a f u c k ing blast!!! We got there around 11pm. I was kinda shocked. It looked like it was gonna be a dead night. Let me tell, you it wasn't gonna be one. Normally when I get there at that time, the place really starts to pick up. I didn't see Jay T. around until a bit after 11:30pm. My respects to him as always. Thanks for the free drink ticket!!! He truly treats the people of Fluid well and always lives up to the name "The crowd pleaser". Like always, the ladies there were amazing!!! Lots of single hots ones as usual checking out the guys. We stayed in the mainroom for a while until it picked up and then headed to the "Steam room". It was getting packed! Another wicked busy night! Man, they were throwing down some wicked tunes and House classics. As always, my buddy Shane and I were trying to sing out loud the words of "Pasilda". He kept on making these hilarious sound effects trying to copy the sounds in the track that goes "Where ever you go I'll follow you, because I was wrong!" As always I was all over the dancefloor having a wicked wicked time. There was this hot group of gals dancing around and they ended up dancing with my boyz and I for a bit. Mint mint mint! When they played that classic House track with India on vocals with that chanting in the background, the crowd went nuts and my friends and I went crazy. I totally blew those girls off and was in my own world going nuts. I love that track! When I hear that track, I want space and go in my own world! The crowd as always in the steam room were well mixed of many races, dressed to impress, no attititude. This is what keeps making me come back here week after week. The bartenders in the steam room are drop dead georgous!!! Hot hot hot!!!! The gals that go around and get drink orders from the crowd are nice too. I bet some people get annoyed by them because they keep coming back and asking everyone if they want any drinks. Anyway after awhile we went back to the mainroom when they started to play some R&B and then the House classics. Oh boy, so many hot broads around!!! I love the summertime and those sexy short skirts and gogo boots! Yum yum!!! I remember looking to the front towards the dj booth through the crowd in the mainroom trying to look for my cousin and one of my friends who ran off and all of a sudden I hear Jay T. on the mic go "Yesssssss Dragon!" Through the crowd we pointed each other out and gave respects. Finally the House anthems were dropped and I had all this energy. After hearing that classic India track in the steam room, they played it again in the main room(the spa) and I ended up going nuts and going along with the chant of that wicked track("A lay a lay a! A lay a laya! A lay a lay a"). We then went back in the "steam room" where they played some old school classics like "Magic feet" and that wicked wicked track that came out like 10 years ago with that funky saxaphone melody. All I heard was "Yeaaaaaaaahhhh" from the crowd when that classic saxaphone track came on. It gets so hot in there! The smoke, the sweat, and of course the hot hot women!" Anyway we left at around 2:45am. My feet were killing. I didn't want to leave like always. Once again, all I gotta say is that it was another wicked night in Fluid.

  • We checked out Fluid Lounge on thursday, dressed in semi-formal wear, apparently we were told that we had to be "members" to get in, however no such membership exists. When we asked how does one obtain 'membership', they(white bald bouncer) told us we have to get it from 'management'. When we asked who was 'management', the bouncer said he was management. We were told to leave the line, the only people to leave, very embarrasing. We were even on the guest list! They discrimate if your a)not a black man or b)not a woman. Complete b/s. The new bouncer, the white bald guy, will not let you in unless you meet this criteria, he is a complete prick... man, i thought i was living in Canada.

  • Sunday nights at Fluid are host to the Manhattan project presented by Zark, Ralf and Friends. Sunday nights are usually host to jaCko and OLM too.

Anyway, we arrived at Fluid a little before 12 and we were surprised, (or not, after all it was a long weekend) to see quite the line. Thankfully I put us on guestlist, and after being nervous a little because I was unsure if we were on guestlist or not, we got inside with no wait and no problem.

As soon as we got inside we heard the sounds of Aubrey Richards throwing down some awesome tunes. I really think Aubrey is one of Toronto's better DJs. Anyway, after waiting a bit to check my coat, the night truly began. The women of Fluid on Sunday are by far the best looking women I have ever seen. They know how to dress, they know how to dance, they are quite impressive.

After Aubrey Richards mellowed down musically, we went to check out the other room. Luckily we were allowed in the VIP area where we saw none other than Raptors power forward, Charles Oakley. People offered to buy him drinks and what not, but he makes $10 million US a year, so he refused.

Joe Marella, I don't know about this guy. He'd play a good song then something inappropriate. But whatever.

Returning to the other room, we returned to the Richards sound. He really pumped it down. We stayed till closing, and it went an hour later which was awesome. We met CPG from this site, and aside from the bitching hangover I have right now it was a good night.

  • Here's my review of Fluid Sunday night Feb 25 2001.

Fluid Lounge on Sunday nights is host to the Manhattan Project which is presented by Zark, Ralf and Friends. Cover is $10 for both sexes. The line up is decent and moves quicker than other nights. The Manhattan Project probably isn't for everyone. In the main room it's progressive house all night long. The smaller room has more of a variety with house, and even sometimes hip hop. The crowd is very good looking and a lot older. The club is dead until about 12 and even then when it is busy, there's about 400-500 people. The crowd usually leaves earlier, around 1:30 because most have to work the next day. The coat check line for me at this club, really peeves me off, as last night I had to wait longer in that line then outside. Ignoring that, Fluid on a Sunday night is a night full of industry people and hardcore clubbers. The music is more underground, the crowd may have a little more attitude, but still, the Manhattan Project is a very entertaining mix of music, people, and decor.
