  • So I decided to check out the new Indian Motorcycle Cafe. It's on Queen Stret West and it's a little more darker then the previous venue but also a lot smaller. I would say about half the size of the previous one. So we got there around 11pm and it was busier then I had expected. The music was almost a bit of hip hop, some rock/alternative and some retro; a good mix of songs for a person my age (29). Overall, I would rate this 7/10.

  • This past Saturday night I finally made the trek out to Indian Motorcycle. It's a place I've always wanted to check out and with a friend's b-day party going on I finally had a reason to go.

I think just about clubber that goes downtown on a Saturday night has probably witnessed the huge line up's at this place that stretch way down Peter St. Since the day this place opened those Saturday night lineups have started at 9:15-9:30 and last until well past 1:00am. Knowing this we tried to get there early...and we arrived at around 9:20. Unfortunately we were too late!! - the lineup was already huge and slow moving. Luckily we knew some people right at the front who got us in. :)

The first thing that I liked about this place was that there is no cover. The second thing I liked about this place is that coat check is free.

The place is nice looking, big and roomy. The first floor is the restaurant portion. Then the next floor up is where most people hang out. It's really just a nice place to lounge...reminds me a bit of Easy and The Fifth. There is no dance floor but lots of leather couches and some pool tables. There is ambient lighting all over and the music is just the right volume that you can easily have a conversation with somebody. The third floor looks like it's the place where people would go to dance. You will find more leather couches up here and it's big and open with space to dance but there is no laser lights or big booming speakers if that's what you are thinking.

The crowd is definitely much much older. Most people are 25-30+...I felt really young and I am 24. However, most people seem really friendly and were very well dressed. The middle floor got fairly busy while the other two floors weren't all that busy. Although when we left around 1:15am there were still people waiting in line to get in.

The music is kinda weird. Don't really know how to explain it...the DJ was all over the place...from old school to R&B to some Dance and old House and to some stuff I couldn't even classify. Mind you, nobody really dances at this place; like I said it's more of a lounge but nevertheless, I wasn't impressed with the music.

Overall it's a very very nice lounge; I enjoyed it. It's a great place if you just want to sit back and chill with a group of friends while sipping some cocktails (which by the way are priced around $7).

    Overall rating: 7/10

  • Indian Motorcycle turned out to be quite a cool place. I went there several time during April and May of this 2000. Go early or else there's a big line-up. We usualy went around 9-10pm. Go at 11 and the lines about 30 min wait. It's moves kind of slow but the bouncers were really fair. Some big shots tried to use their "connections" or other crap, but they wouldn't let them by insisting that they're weren't any better than everyone in line. Quite the opposite from Money! There's no dress code but everyone's dressed up. It's a mature crowd, 25+, lots of people that look like they came from a convention. Overall crowd can be snobby but they're pretty easy going. There are some hot women here! Crowd does look like they're all rich. Drinks are very expensive. $6.25 for beers, mike's hard, corona, etc. But hey there is no cover and during winter FREE COAT CHECK! I still tipped the coat check girl though. Music is disco/old school until usually 11:30 then they start playing a mix of house, r&b/hip-hop, dance, reggae, and latino. Dance floor isn't big but lots of couches to sit. It's 3 floors, first floor's a restaurant, 2nd has the dance floor and big lounges area, and the 3rd floor is a smaller lounger with a free pool table! Not a bad place for thur.
