- Joe is a great place to dance and to hang out, except for the fact that its only
hip-hop and reggae there playing, no trance, house thats shame because its a great
nightclub but all they play is that stuff that is impossible to dance to.

- When it comes to Joe I have one word: Grimey.
It was the second destination of that Saturday night for my friends and I and it was about 12:30 when we arrived. It wasn't the whole night but I think at that point in the night the club should be at it's best.
It was $10 cover which isn't too bad if it were worth it.
Once I was in the club I felt as though I was in an abandoned warehouse that someone decided to quickly turn into a clubbing venue. The place was extremely dirty and like I mentioned "grimey". Everything is just plain concrete and it gives the illusion of a prison. . When I reached the second floor I felt like I was at a school dance. The DJ booth looked more like the makeshift DJ booth we made in grade 8 with gym mats instead this was made out of flimsy plywood painted black. The third floor was the best floor for dancing that night. To be honest I was a bit tipsy from drinking earlier on and the $1.50 beers that I bought on the Second floor. So, what I remember from the thrid floor was an okay looking bar that spanned a good amount of the room and another smaller bar positioned near the door way and the bathrooms. The walls were pretty much bare and the poor lighting was their idea of "atmosphere". The best area in the whole place for not feeling like i needed a bath in Purell was the rooftop patio. That was nice to just sit and hang out on. So over all I give it a 2 out of 10 for atmosphere.
The crowd was extremely casual. For many people this is a good thing. However, this seemed to be the destination for poorly dressed, poorly mannered, poorly showered people. On the thrid floor there were rather old men prowling around and trying to get their hands on any young girl they could find. I know this is a common happening in clubs however here it was unbearable. I had to leave the dance floor because it was either old stinky men or people who couldnt dance hurling themselves into us. It just wasn't the "livest" crowd. It was more of a "misfit" club. That may sound stuck up but it really is the truth. So if you're into that then by all means thers no problem but if you;re looking to maybe hook up witha few nice decent people and not get potentially molested by grandpa then avoid Joe. The second floor was more for people who are into... "BON JOVI! there was ALOT of Bon Jovi. However that floor was pretty much empty when I was there and there was a lign up to get upstairs which was quite annoying due to the fact that it wasn't THAT crowded. Also, the bartender had a hissy fit because my friend didn;t tip for her beers. My friend likes to give a huge tip at the end of the night for some reason however, the bartender was very mad and screamed "THATS JUST SO GENEROUS OF YOU!!!"
I didn;t mind the doormen too much. They were a alittle on the goofy side. A little bit slow realising there was a fuill blown fight happening on the dance floor. And they were very busy flirting with us at the end of the night in a big crowd when I'm still not sure who was watching the rest of the club. However, they were very nice and thats mroe than I can say for many other doormen.
So over all I give Joe a 6 out of 10. The beer was cheap (1.50) The place was pretty "grimey". The music was okay... and the crowd was kinda BLAH....but if u just wanna go somewhere to get drunk.. dance for a bit and then chill on a rooftop.. JOES THE WAY TO GO!

- I was hanging out at Joe nightclub last Friday and let me tell you guys it was amazing!!! They had 3 floor open. The first floor was Hip-Hop & R&R, the third floor was a mix of house & R&B and the patio was also open. All 3 floors were jammed. Had a great time there. If there's nothing for ya all to do check it out!

- Grand opening of a new party. Forbidden Fridays. (there was Rock on the top floor before)
I Went late at 1am, so this review does not detail or acuratley describe the WHOLE night.
Door staff = 2 thumbs up.
Bottom floor was very busy. Urban music however the DJ was not great. This floor is more 'loungy' than a club.
Top floor was House, old school dance, top 40 dance and a dash of urban.. The later it went, the deeper the house became. DJs were the lateniterz; Alonso and Elvis Lee (Used to be Bernie B's freestyle partner)
Mike Devine from 103 was the host and MC. He spent most of the time on the top floor. This floor was quite busy, but emptied out early. The female bartender on this floor was very hot, however she was not all there. Kind of brain dead actually.
Drinks were average priced. Cover was $10 (I think) The crowd was VERY mixed. All sorts of people and ages (19-30)
Will I go again. Yes. The music was great as were the hosts. The crowd was super friendly as well.

- We arrived at around 10:30pm, huge line up... but I couldnt help but glance accross the street at Fluid, who had the much better looking lineup!
The line was huge, but it moved pretty well. $10, but $5 if you show your student card.
3 Floors (+ the roof-top patio, which was closed)... It has come a long way since Whisky... looks better!
1st floor, small, club like.... hip hop, R&B, Reggae
2nd floor, packed, bar like.... rock, hip hop [drinking music & $1.50 beers] This floor reminded me of the brunny, minus the dance floor.
3rd floor, I'd say the nicest.... dance tied in with some hip hop and R&B.
THE TURN OFF: Since it gets pretty full, you have to line up to enter and LEAVE rooms! So if you seperate from part of your group for a bit, you have to line up to re-join them. I really didn't like that.
Honestly, it wasn't terrible, but I dont see my self going back anytime soon.
6.5/10

- Anyways, the old whiskey saigon was renovated VERY nicely..... I was told "GET THERE EARLY" so we left richmondhill/markham area around 9:45, got downtown & parked by 10 after 10... park at our regular roy thomson hall & make our walk down... I haven't been downtown that early in a LOOOOOOOOOONG time and i didn't relize how dead it was.... until we approached joe... this place had a HUGE lineup down the street... we waited in line for about an hour....
Once we got in, we checked our jackets (mandatory coat check) where we were greeted by friendly staff, and some drunk ass chick belching like no tommorrow (seriously, barney would have been jealous) Made our way up.. to the "bottom" floor of the club... really nice looking, with seats all over, and nice bars all along one of the sides. Drinks are your avg. 2 drinks & 2 shots cost me $18.50.. went up the next floor to picnic tables all over the place, big screens with hockey highlights and 1.50 drinks it was really rammed in there so we made our way UP again to the "dancefloor" area... drinks here went back to normal.. the place really got rammed around 12:30... the crowd is very mixed.. average age i'd say is like 18 to 21... almost all university/college students..
For the guys - LOTS of ladies.. i was very suprised.. lots of friendly HOT good looking women of all places of the world..
for the ladies - well, I must give the guy's the advantage for visiting, the girls surely out do the guy's based on looks, and maturity it seems.. you'd see a little scuffle every few minutes...
We spent most of our night on the top floor where we were treated to a mix of top 40 stuff.... friendly bartenders & bouncers.... FYI 10$ cover, 5$ with student card, 1.75 coat check. No dress code (just don't go in jogging pants )
I'd definately go back again.. it's the type of place you can go and either party up, or chill and relax with a few friends for some drinks.... major pickup place as well, everywhere you turned someone's getting it on with someone else..
8/10 :lost 2 points because of a few fights & the big ass lineup.. GO EARLY!
