Customer Service Rating 5/5 The doormen are awesome! The guest-list girl is quick and accommodating. Even if you go by and see long lines don’t fret it moves unbelievably quick. The cashier always has a smile on her face, and no one is rushing you about. The bouncers and bartenders inside are friendly. I know it’s weird to say but it actually seems that everyone there is enjoying themselves and their job. Interior Rating 5/5 The club is designed on 3 levels. We enter through the 1st level being Rock the décor is hard and cold. There are “rocks” for tables and the atmosphere is dark. They play mainly hip hop, R&B music on this floor and it’s the same on both Friday and Saturday. After lounging in Rock we headed up to Wood. The décor again is exactly as its name states, the colours are warm and inviting with all wood and earth tones, and there are 2 bars on this floor. There is a main dance floor and at each corner a sectional and tables for bottle service. Grass is definitely one of the funkiest rooftop patios in the city. The walls are covered in greenery. There are private booths available for bottle service. There is a large bar that spans the width of the patio as well as an upper level with a gazebo seating area and another small bar. The music at Grass is carried up from Wood. Music Rating 5/5 I love Rockwood/Grass for the simple reason that it can please all my friends. One level of hip hop and a bit of top 40 and another level of house with some of Toronto’s best and hidden talent. Fridays DJ Frankie is downstairs (amazing guy who knows how to get his crowd to move) and upstairs is DJ Alonso Mendez playing the best in House. Friday nights you get a lot more mainstream music. Saturdays DJ Geoff Brown downstairs spinning mainly hip hop and some Top 40. Upstairs is more sensual house with some classics thrown in by DJ Premier, another hidden gem in Toronto. Both nights you get a DJ that can move your feet non stop! Crowd Rating 5/5 Everyone just seems to be there to have a good time. It’s a very friendly and good looking crowd. There is an equivalent ratio of guys to girls. As per most clubs in the GTA style code is in effect so no dressing scrub like here! ;) The crowd is 21-30 classy and clean cut, just looking to have a good time. Definitely Toronto’s hot spot if you’re into house music, good vibes, an intimate setting and looking to get away from the generic Richmond St. clubs. The Cost: Cover Charge on a Friday night is $10 and Saturdays $20. Drinks are averages priced at $5.50-$6 The Good: All Of it The Bad: None of it Overall 5/5 No complaints…I’ve returned to Rockwood on several occasions and it’s now become my ending destination on weekends. I haven’t had any problems nor seen anyone have problems. My favourite - I’ve never seen a fight there either! |
