- We got there at 11:45 PM and saw no line. The one thing I like about underground House/Techno clubs is that no line at this hour doesn't mean that the club will be empty as the crowd doesn't line up at 10. Since we were on guestlist and showed up before midnight we all got in for free. However if not on guestlist the cover for this night would be $15 before midnight and $20 afterwards. At this time the club was just warming up as there were a few people on the dancefloor but we decided to grab a few drinks and listen to some sick progressive beats. However it would get really busy, but not to the point where you couldn't move, at around 1-1:30 AM.
Although I drove that night and didn't drink much, I can tell you that the drink prices are average for a downtown club. 2 Molsons for me and a chick I met in the place, cost me $9.50 which is pretty standard. A Corona was around $6 I believe and a water bottle was unusually expensive at $4-$5 but then again one must keep in mind that the place is open until 7 AM, brings a lot of strong DJ talent, and for the 5 hours that they can't serve alcohol most people will have water. Another thing I must mention is that the crowd wasn't really too much into the booze so it didn't take long to get drinks.
When we first came an Asian guy was spinning, I believe it was Deep Groove but I'm not sure. He did a solid warm up for Brad Copeland which would come on later. Copeland's set consisted mostly of Techno along with a fair amount of Progessive & Hard House. At 3-3:30, he switched to something similar to Psychedlic Trance but kept the techno beat strong at the same time; anyways it was an interesting mix. I recall hearing a few Scumfrog tracks remixed to sound a bit more undergroundish. All in all if I had to compare his set to somebody else, I'd say Copeland's performance mostly reminds me of Garnier's set I heard in Europe back last summer. The fact that I was in the club for over 5 hours says more than enough about my rating for him.
In terms of the crowd, it was pretty mixed in terms of age and ethnicity: it was around 65-70 % European and the other 30-35 % was mostly Asian although I'd say it was a very diverse crowd. There were a fair amount of people 19-24 but then again there were lots of people in their late 20s and older all under one roof. The girl to guy ratio wasn't bad but wasn't spectular either but the ladies I've met were a lot more friendly then the ones in the mainstream clubs: one actually came right up to me and asked if have E and then proceeded to give me a compliment about my shirt, another one put her arms around me and started dancing. Unlike most people, I seem to have more luck in places that aren't considered being a "meat market" (Guv, Film, System).
We left just before 5 AM as I recall but the place would still keep on going for another 2 hou
Overrall Rating: 9/10
Would I come back to System Soundbar? Yes
Would I want to see Brad Copeland live again? Yes

- Personally-it's not that bad, but the price is so not worth it. Especially if it's a guest DJ night. There's WAY too many bigger and better clubs just around the corner that are way cheaper anyway. Myself and my friends came there one night with free passes which weren't accepted since they were hosting a 'guest DJ'. So then we had to go all the way back to a bank machine, and when we came back a few minutes later they raised the price to $25! When we got in, I checked out the scene and was even more dissapointed to find that they had closed off the whole back section and the basement-bummer! So it wasn't even big enough and I couldn't get away from the nutbar freaks that kept coming up to me! It was a complete letdown and robbery!

- Well, after being screwed over for a ride to Guvernment, I decided to meet some friends down at System at the annoyingly late and expensive hour of 12:30 am
Got there, line was small, paid $15 (got there too late for me to use this girl's guestlist)...and I wasn't surprised when I saw that coat check was $2.50 (50 cents too high for me)
Walked around the club looking for my friends, and was surprised at how well kept the place was, considering I've heard it's just another hole-in-the-ground club...WRONG!! The bathrooms are REALLY nice compared to a LOT of clubs I've been to. Nice seating areas, and lots of room to dance all over also.
Found my friend, and we went into the VIP, where the DJ was spinning some nice chilling house - a very cozy environment, and a good place to get away with doing shit
I believe there was some event there that night, I'm too lazy to look for the site and list what it was and who was playing... but it was pretty good - dark/underground like beats mostly, and a few mainstream hard house tracks
The crowd was very friendly, even moreso then the Guv.!! Met lots of ppl, lots of ravers , and the owner and bouncers that I was introduced to, were ALL nice
Lots of dealers in that club, LOTS...
Lots of shady business going on in all corners of the club, but it's expected, guaranteed 90% of the crowd was on some type of drug (not that there's anything wrong with that)
8/10

- The Music: Underground House in the main room most nights... Many special events for Friday and Saturday nights with International Dj's such as Mauro Picotto(hard trance), Junior Sanchez (NY style House) lately... cevin fisher (house) and terrance parker. In the VIP (no prob gettin up there) it's all disco/jazzy house with Micheal Drury. The Backroom is all really underground stuff, some DnB, Breaks etc.
As for the crowd? .... as i said i live at this place. The people are extremely friendly. Everyone knows everyone. Say hi to anyone and start a good conversation.
The Crowd.... i would say there is about 1/4 Asian ... maybe closer to 1/8th but the rest of the crowd is totally mixed (more white i guess).
I recommend this place to anyone who is really into House tunes and likes to meet new people.
