Mercatto's Bay Street location bustles in the heart of Toronto's financial district. It began primarily as a fresh market with home-cooked meals to be enjoyed via takeout or at a cozy bank of tables. As Toronto's restaurant scene has matured and begun to attract more international attention, the Scarangella brothers have again risen to the occasion with an intensive top-to-bottom redesign of Mercatto.

Mercatto first made its mark on Toronto as a fresh market food shop; a cozy kitchen served primarily to provide the bustling downtown denizens with convenient takeout meals. Over time, Mercatto's fame and reputation grew, and demand for their festive, filling and fun dishes grew with it. Steadily, Mercatto has evolved into a thriving urban dinner location without the stuffiness and pretense that mars many downtown dining hotspots.

From sunrise onwards, Mercatto offers up classic Italian recipes with urbane flair.
